Kenneth Sothman, Bears SuperfanReading text-books, studying for exams, and staying up to three at the library every night may seem like a hard process, but trust me, when you have an undefeated football team it makes the whole process a lot easier. I can’t even imagine how hard/saddening this week would’ve been if my favorite team was pulling the anti-1972 Dolphins like the Raiders. Or almost just as bad, my marquee free agent was down for the season, which jump-started every football fans worst nightmare: “The Joey Harrington Era”.
Onto some random Bears stuff…
- I think I may have mentioned this before, but I’m not sure if anybody quite understands the amazing amount of national coverage the Bears are getting until they live outside of the Chicago area. Even with the good team we had last year, keeping up with the Bears was like searching through a “Where’s Waldo” book. Maybe if you were lucky you’d find it right off the bat (and it was always half-positive and half-negative due to our quarterback situation), but sometimes I could go a week without hearing anything about them besides the previous weeks score.
- I was in attendance to the game in which Jon Garland went 7-0 during early May last year, and for the first time ever I felt a certain vibe flowing through the stadium. It was as if the 29,000 fans at the game (on a Thursday night which for them at that point was great for a weeknight game) could sense this team was something special. So my question is for those of you guys that are lucky enough to attend the games, can you feel the vibe I’m talking about at home games?
- I’m very interested in seeing how both Rex Grossman and Matt Leinart are going to react to the pressures of Monday Night Football. Personally, even though it’s his second start, and I know this one is going to stir up some interest, I think Leinart is more suited for this type of atmosphere. Rex just hasn’t played in a game with the importance or the anticipation of last years National Championship, which may go down as one of the greatest bowl games I may see in my lifetime. In fact, Rex probably won’t face the previous pressures Leinart has faced until we are facing down going undefeated, or during the NFC Championship game.
- I think we’re getting spoiled with the points our offense is giving us. With that said, since they are my roommate’s favorite team, every week the Tampa Bay Bucs can borrow ten points from the Bears. Hope this brings you a win or two Drew…
- I’m still rather worried that Bill Simmons from ESPN.com is going to jinx us when he picks the Bears to win like he did this week. But then again, I’m not sure how much respect I can give his picks anymore if the Sports Gal keeps on beating him every week…
- Once again, thanks to my fellow bloggers for holding up strong against those other “Bears fans” on here that only own DirecTV and a Sprint phone because they enjoy a certain quarterback that can barely beat the Titans at home. In fact, from here on out, I’m banning a certain Colts quarterback’s name from my blog.
- My birthday (the big 20) is in less then a month, so if anybody wants to send a Rex Grossman jersey this way during that time, you guys are more then welcome too… =)
