It's finally sinking in...

Kenneth Sothman, Bears Superfan
I woke up today like any other day. It was a good feeling to realize the world wasn't coming to an end once Peyton Manning won a Superbowl.
My usual normal morning routine involves catching the previous night's Sportscenter which I usually watch two times through (but refused last night), but in fear of starting the day on a bad note, I opted with some VH1. And as Regina Spektor told me:
"All my friends say that, of course, it's gonna get better gonna get better better better better better better better better better better..."
But the day continued on as normal. Classes were still classes, the cute girl in my theatre class is still cute (she was rooting for the Bears), and I still can't quite understand Spanish. I figured if something odd like a Chicago team was going to lose in a championship, then the universe could at least align correctly so I could understand mi profesora.
Seriously though, how is that possible? The Bulls won six of them, the Fire won a championship, and even my White Sox won a World Series. How could the Bears not continue the trend? As worse yet, what if I have to wait another 21 years for this?
I won't have to wait that long, right Paul? Or Gail? Or Kathee? They should be back sometime in the next few years...
But all in all, I'm making it by alright. A few random notes:
- I mentioned in an earlier post how I watched my White Sox dvd last night, which to keep in the mood of baseball and mind off football, I opted to watch Field of Dreams, which was due at the video store here last night. Ironically by opting to attempt to lighten my spirits, the move to not take it back made matters worse, for I forgot to move my car from a parking lot here to where I'm assigned to park. So what I'm basically saying is that it would be very generous of the Chicago Bears to give me 25 dollars for my parking ticket.
- How did Paul and I not spot that Devin Hester's kick-off return was a complete replica of Teddy Ginn's kick-off return against Florida, thus leading the doom of our Bears?
- Should I at least be happy that the game didn't end on a Vinataeri field goal? On that note...
- Was it as depressing for anyone else to look at the scoreboard in the second half and think to themselves, "Well, we're technically still in the game, yet we've done nothing the whole time to show we can come back or stop them."
- I couldn't help but smile at Marcus's picture, which is the classy way of rubbing it in, yet burns just as deep. To steal from Paul, "I hope you are satisfied."
- The low point of the night came when my good friend Katie, also known as the "Bears Gal", called me on the phone to check up on me well after the game. We talked for a little bit, about the game, about the season, and about how walking around campus is going to be rough, especially when the Superbowl Champs stuff starts coming out mid-week.
Then she mentioned "Well I already know some Colts fans who are planning on going to the parade." At that point I could feel both of our hearts burst, for we were planning to skip classes for a day to attend OUR championship parade.
- All in all, I have to be a good sport, so congratulations to the 2007 World Champions, your Indianapolis Colts. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go walk around campus blind-folded with my Ipod on full blast.
