The Road To New England?
Marcus Riley, Web Development ManagerI missed the first part of the Bears game, which, as it turned out, was the only part worth watching. The Monsters of the Midway issued another beat-down on their home turf, erasing the bad taste left over from Arizona -- and allowing Bears fans to start dreaming of another warm weather location.
Kind of interesting that the Colts and the Bears are the only undefeated teams, huh? The Colts beat the Broncos 34-31 thanks to a last-second field goal. Of the 14 wins between these two undefeated teams, I do believe the Colts win over Denver -- IN Denver, was the most impressive. Beating that team in their own stadium -- a team that had only lost one game, and had only given up TWO touchdowns all season -- is a huge win.
So as the Colts and the Bears seem to be logical choices to meet in the Super Bowl, all we can do during the season is argue back and forth about who's superior, right? I suggest we look at each team's game versus New England as a measuring stick. How each team reacts to playing in Foxboro stadium against a resurgent Patriot team can provide the best indication of who deserves to be on top in this Colts-Bears debate. The Colts play the Patriots this weekend. The Bears on 11/26. Let the games begin!

Marcus, Marcus, Marcus...
Seriously, the Colts offense is good, and it's impressive they scored on the Broncos defense.
But it's not impressive at all that the Colts gave up 31 points to a Jake Plummer led offense, especially one that has scored about two touchdowns this season.
I think you're digging yourself a hole by using the New England game as your benchmark. In fact, if I were you, I would've avoiaded all considerations of using it as the benchmark. Maroney and Dillon alone are going to rush for a combined 250 yards, and don't forget about the golden boy Brady.
My predictions for the two games:
Pats 38, Colts 35.
Pats 13, Bears 31.
Believe the hype!
By the way... how about Marcus Vick?
I'm not sure what's going on with Marcus Vick, Ken. Didn't he get cut?
I stand by using the New England game as a benchmark -- I suppose I could use the Giants as well (who the Colts beat at the Meadowlands), but I won't even go there, because the Giants are playing much better now than at the beginning of the season.
Check out Mariotti's column on Tuesday. We seem to be on the same page.
"... at the moment, by no real fault of theirs, they (Bears) don't have a high-quality victory to match that of the Indianapolis Colts."
Ahhh my mistake, Michael Vick.
Either way, I think we're both going to be dissapointed if both the Colts and Bears lose to the Pats...
MARCUS -- the fact that you take anything Mariotti has to say as back up makes me think less of you! Mariotti is so two faced it infuriates me that he is even still writing in this city. He will say how great the Bears are one day, then the next he will say how he all along knew they wouldn't do blah. I can't stand him. And all this colts talk is really starting to get to me!!!
Schmitty, the Bears and the Colts are the last two teams standing... I think you're going to have to get used to hearing both teams mentioned in the same breath... provided y'all take care of business on the east coast, of course!
