Err, At Least I had Free Food
I was really happy to see the Bears use the 'Shotgun'. Unfortunately, I was watching the game at mosttly a 'soccer-type' bar and they didn't understand why Chicagoans love the Bears. But, that has it advantages as well.
After watching the game, I had some thoughts:
- Tim Spencer (Bears RB coach) should start thinking about having Cedric Benson and Adrian Peterson start carrying the ball closer to their body with elbows tucked in...ala Garrett Woulfe and Tiki Barker....
- Adam Archuleta was 'The Man' covering Antonio Gates
- Ron Turner, Ron Turner, Ron Turner..where do we start? (Will he design protection to cover the open man on the right side? Why did he abandon the 'Shotgun' after getting a successful pass play after running it in the first half? Any plays designed to go outside or of tackle? Why have Benson on 4th and short, when Peterson had success picking up short yardage? Do you at least know your player's names, since you still haven't figured out what they can do?)
- SD won the battle of the screens
- Teams will start to notice the Bears sinking their two 'upmen' before Devin Hester to help get a better KO return and putting Danieal Manning back on kickoffs
- Dale Toub was a good re-hire for his work with the special teams, especially bringing middle pressure on the Chargers' punter
- The game was there for the 'taking' and Rex Grossman wasn't to blame.
