2nd Half Beatings

Susan Rhein, Bears Superfan

Well the Bears/Chargers game pretty much went exactly as most people predicted.

I have to admit that I was very impressed with the first half of the game with our Defense holding LT to little or no yards. However, I was not impressed with Benson and Peterson and their missed cues and dropped balls and then when I saw the No. 20 jersey out on the field, I thought Jones was back until they said his name was Archuleta, I was quite disappointed.

When I saw Mike Brown grab that ball out of the air and take off running, I had flashbacks of years prior and kept yelling at my TV as if Mike could hear me to run. Boy it sure was nice to have Mike back in the mix again.

In the second half, the Bears Defense was beaten by an Offense that played cat and mouse with them in the first half of the game. The Chargers watched every play we gave them in the first half and then when we started the second half, it was as if they already knew what the Bears game plan was and that's when the Chargers came out blasting and wore down the Bears Defense.

My question that I want answered is, where were the blockers when Rex got sacked on the weak side?? The blockers know that that is Rex's weak side so you would have thought that they would have been blocking that side so that Rex could get planted in the pocket and then throw the ball down field for yardage and instead, there was no one there and Rex got sacked, not once but twice. Obviously someone wasn't doing their job.

As nice as it was to have Tommie Harris back in the line up, Tommie needs to pay attention to the snap count. He was clearly offside and yes we benefited from it and got the ball back but, in the end, as it was called when I was a kid, "cheaters proof" the Chargers won the game. I honestly feel that the Chargers became enraged in anger that the refs gave us the ball when it was clearly Chargers ball and that's why we lost the game. The Chargers knew that they were wronged by the refs and that's when they came out fighting with a fire in their belly to prove to the rest of the NFL that the Chargers wont stand for cheating in their house.

Although I did notice later in the game that one of the Chargers committed a face mask penalty against a Bears player and there were no flags thrown for it by a ref so, maybe the refs felt like that was fair, kind of like a "tit for tat".

Well all I can say is that this was the first game of the season and now the Bears know that they have room for improvement and they can see where they need to improve at so in my opinion, the Bears can only get better from here to the end of the season.
