Paul Bixby
Paul Bixby , Bears Super Fan

So, we've all decided that Marcus is nuts then? Even the -ack- Packers glory coach Vince Lombardi understood. "Winning isn't everything. It's the only thing," and
"If it doesn't matter who wins or loses, then why do they keep score?" A grinding defensive battle with neither team giving ground, each and every point dripping with sweat and blood, honorable men aching with pains that will be felt until Friday, the air ringing with the fury of overgrown behemoths struggling to overcome all obstacles, to create a path so that their running compatriat can give his all to breach that glorious, shining beam of radiance that is the end zone plane - that, my friend, is football. And not just any kind of football - Chicago football - Bears football. None of this playing catch with friends on Sunday afternoon in a nice cushy dome, away from Mother Nature's righteous anger. That is not football. Not in this town. A high-scoring loss better than a low-scoring victory? Get real.

Sixteen hours and 45 minutes until the real football season begins. I'll be sitting on my couch, as my two daughters (Thing 1 and Thing 2) running back and forth in front of the television, while my darling wife, Mrs. Bixby (Not Her Real Name) does all of the little (and big) things that keep a household running despite a husband's best efforts at disruption. All four of us will be screaming for all our worth as our boys do their best to thwart the efforts of "He who shall not be named" to create a perfect final season. We got him last year. I've no doubt we shall "fix him good" this year too.

GO BEARS!

By the way Kenneth, I have my Bears pajama pants, my 2001 Division Champions T-shirt and my Soldier Field 75th anniversary cap (from the last year that Soldier Field actually looked like Soldier Field). I haven't been in the new joint yet.
